Sylvan Adams Sports Institute
Fleischman Faculty of Engineering and Sackler Faculty of Engineering. Designed by: Kolker - Kolker - Epstein Architects
The Sylvan Adams Sports Institute building is designated as a laboratory center dedicated to the encouragement of sports excellence. Its main objective is creating researching environment for outstanding athletes to examine and improve their physical abilities.
The building will hold 10 personal swimming pools, in addition to various athletic machinery, such as treadmills and cycling machines, and monitoring equipment.
The Sylvan Adams Sports Institute will be built on top of a parking structure located on Haim Levanon street. The building is one of several "border structures", that are intended to create an encounter between the happenings of the public street and those of the university. It will connect athletes from all over Israel to researches from the medical faculty, specializing in high performance sports research.
The design itself serves a dual purpose - on the one hand as a border between the campus and the outside. And on the other hand, as a "display window" that allows passerby’s to observe the activity inside.
